I am a computational linguist in Saarbrücken and Berlin, Germany,
working as Professor at Saarland University and as Scientific Director
at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
I am coordinating the European Network of Excellence  META-NET,
the European machine translation project  EuroMatrix
and the International Erasmus Mundus Masters Programme LCT.

I am also a principal investigator of the Excellence Cluster MMCI.
From 2005-2011 I have served as Chairperson of the Supervisory Board
of the international social-change project dropping knowledge,
whose knowledge repository we are still maintaining at DFKI.

I am also involved in several young language technology enterprises
as co-founder and advisor.
